[PART 2: Bonacelli Returns] I could end up in that great pizzaria in the sky! - Hogan's Heroes 4x25 Season 4, Episode 25 - The Return of Major Bonacelli

LITTLE OGGIE'S ROAD TO FIFTY
I will turn 50 on October 17, 2020 and it is a big milestone in my life!
Due to the pandemic and current health problems I will probably not be able to celebrate this moment with friends and family here at home, but instead thought I would share with the friends I have made through this channel as I countdown to my fiftieth birthday!

PART 8: The 2010s
Early in to 2010 we saw The Olympics come to Vancouver. In the lead up I was looking forward to it, but not overly excited... but once they were here it was quite an amazing experience!

The cancer treatments really took a toll on my wife and she spent some time recovering. She wasn't working at the time - she was a restaurant manager and after she told her employer that she had cancer, three weeks later they fired her because they said she was not qualified for the position of manager... this after she had been a manager for a few years.

The next few years I just kept working on the ordering system, fine tuning it, working on a new version and then after getting burned out working so much (it was a lot of 80-100 hour work weeks) I stepped back and moved in to a more technical support role and overseeing and consulting on the software development... and Mrs LittleOggie returned to work by the end of the year.

In 2011 it was late spring and one night after dinner I was having some chest pains. Wasn't sure if it was gas, dinner or something else. As the night went on I started feeling worse and around 2AM decided I had enough and we called a taxi to take me to the hospital.

Turns out I had high blood pressure - I was 210 over 185, when normal for somebody my age would be more like 120 over 90. They ran a bunch of test and also found out I was suffering from heart failure. This was all likely from being a workaholic and all the stress, especially lately, I had in my life.

To that end I had my workload reduced and tried to be less stressed in life. I had to take a pretty hefty pay cut from work and that didn't help, but it was part of what had to be done.

And that was mostly about it for the next little while. The amount of work I was doing kept going down over time and I didn't really bother to keep it in check, which is why when this Coronavirus stuff hit had such a financial impact on us.

Unfortunately there was a huge lesson to be learned in all this about work, taking it easy, not stressing about every little thing... I just learned it when it was too late.

And sorry for leaving things on a bit of a cliffhanger in the previous entry: Yes, Mrs LittleOggie is still with us and the cancer has not returned in over 10 years.

You can donate to the channel at:

CHANNELS
Little Oggie: For Hogan's Heroes episodes and clips.

Mini Oggie: For classic shows like F-Troop, McHale's Navy and The Phil Silvers Show (Sgt Bilko).

The Get Smart channel has been taken down by YouTube - it takes three copyright strikes for YouTube to shut down a channel and Warner Brothers filed 11 at once.

WHY ARE THESE ONLY 5 MINUTE CLIPS? CAN'T YOU POST A FULL EPISODE?
Unfortunately these episodes are part of the YouTube copyright algorithm - if I post a clip that goes even one second over the five minute mark then the video will be blocked. As it is now the videos all get copyright notices on them so they can't be monetized but are still visible to all.
