Photoshop has a certain amount of automation built in but if you use a MAC, you can extend this massively by using AppleScript in conjunction with PS actions. I found this really difficult to find info online so had to suss out alot of this myself but if you think this could be useful for you and would like to see more tutorials on how you can take advantage of it then please let me know!
