Mayor Muriel Bowser and religious leaders from Muslim, Jewish and Christian faiths spoke about sacrifice and the importance of working together in the face of the coronavirus outbreak that has resulted in the deaths of nearly 40 people in the District.

"All of these losses represent people who were loved and will be missed dearly," Bowser said.

The faith community urged people celebrating Easter over the weekend to do so safely and from home. Restrictions on large gatherings remain in effect across the DMV.

"Many of our traditions are on hold, but our faith is not," Bowser said.

Congregations throughout D.C. have moved services online to adhere to social distancing rules.
