The Left guilty of ‘ridiculous’ Trump rhetoric

The Left in America, led by the media, is stoking resentment and fear by claiming Donald Trump “threatens” America’s democracy, according to The Sydney Institute’s Gerard Henderson.

The US president has vowed to deploy the military unless states halt violent protests following the death of George Floyd.

Mr Floyd, aged 46, died after a police officer was filmed kneeling on his neck for almost nine minutes during his arrest for allegedly using a fake $20 note in a shop, despite him warning that he could not breathe.

In the wake of the death, civil unrest broke out across several US cities.

While many protested police brutality peacefully, some used the opportunity to engage in violent riots.

Mr Henderson said many US commentators are engaging in hyperbole.

“The situation is changing rapidly in the United States,” he said.

“The idea President Donald Trump is trying to establish some kind of dictatorship is ridiculous.”
