Hong Kong’s chance to preserve its special status | DW News Beijing has announced a new national security law that would threaten Hong Kong's semi-autonomous status. Pro-democracy protesters now fear what they see as an unprecedented attack on freedoms in the city.
In June 2019, more than a million people started marching through Hong Kong to protest a draft law that would allow extraditions to mainland China. The bill was shelved - but throughout months of demonstrations, protestors faced a heavy crackdown from police and officials.
DW speaks with Joshua Wong about Hong Kong's chance to preserve its special status.
