US President Donald Trump has suspended funding to the World Health Organisation as he accuses the “China-centric” body of “severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus”. President Trump said the WHO would lose its $400 million US contribution as he launched an investigation into the organisation’s ties to China.
"Had the WHO done its job to get medical experts into China to objectively assess the situation on the ground and to call out China's lack of transparency, the outbreak could have been contained at its source with very little death," the president said.
"The WHO's reliance on China's disclosures likely caused a twenty-fold increase in cases worldwide."
"The WHO has not addressed a single one of these concerns nor provided a serious explanation."
