A couple of weeks ago, we covered a Tesla owner who had decided to add tank-like snow tracks to the rear of his Model 3 to enable him to drive off-road in the snow in winter.

Ultimately, his car broke down -- and Tesla initially said he'd voided the warranty.

Since then, Tesla has changed its mind (something we're not 100% sure the reasons for when Tesla has such a hard line to salvage and repaired Teslas) - but it got us wondering.

Just what is covered under vehicle warranties? And what can and can't you do?

Here's some advice based on our experiences, but as always, you should check with your local statues before making any modifications and seek legal help if you're unsure.
