US Navy Captain Brett Crozier was relieved of command from USS Theodore Roosevelt after it was discovered that he sent an email to colleagues on shore about the condition of sailors on his ship. About 100 sailors had somehow contracted the China Virus - maybe from their ill-advised shore leave in Vietnam recently - and Crozier wanted them to get immediate help. Many of his sailors, and some non-sailors, gave him a ton of praise. They see what he did as noble because the health and well-being of his sailors was paramount. But there are a few glaring issues with what Crozier did.
First of all, chain of command the military is VERY serious. Serious enough to get someone thrown into GITMO depending on the severity of the violation. Crozier not only violated chain of command by sending the letter to civilians on shore, he also sent it through maybe a degree or two of separation to the media.
Which is the worst possible thing to do because the media will take it and spin it however they want. And that puts the USS Roosevelt in a vulnerable state security wise because a smoke signal has been sent to all of our country's enemies that we are not prepared militarily, at least not on that particular vessel.
