The Delaware Emergency Management Agency identified Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children as an alternative care site to support the anticipated surge of patients at adult hospitals. The Sports Medicine gym, which is located one floor below the main level and away from pediatric care, has been converted into this care site for low-acuity, non-COVID-19 adult patients. The State of Delaware has not yet activated it, so it has served as a training space for the organizations staffing the unit: Delaware National Guard, ChristianaCare, and Nemours.
