Exhibition centre could turn into makeshift morgue amid COVID-19 deaths The Melbourne Exhibition Centre is being flagged as the site for an intensive care hospital to treat hundreds of coronavirus patients, while the centre may also be turned into a temporary morgue.

The Age is reporting the historic Melbourne landmark "could become a massive makeshift intensive care hospital … under a plan being considered by the state government," and also in the wake what is "feared could be a large number of bodies of victims of the pandemic" it could become a morgue.

Sky News Darwin Bureau Chief Matt Cunningham told Sky News host Peter Gleeson given Australia's current curve, and the scenes in Italy and Spain "Europe could be a practice run of what we're about to be hit home with here".
